There is a letter circulating, that was written by the KKK in response to our recent published novel, The Slave Players by Megan Allen, asking libraries and colleges to ban our book. We have been overwhelmed with the support we have received and are so grateful for those who have taken up our fight.

Burn House Publishing is working closely with the SPLC (South Poverty Law Center), who has spent the last month investigating these letters, as well as the 100+ emails received by both Megan Allen and our publishing house, before our book went on sale. Their conclusion is that a self-proclaimed member (or members) have found our book to be threatening to their way of life and their territory, here in Florida. They believe the group came into contact with us when we attended an anti-hate rally in South Carolina and handed out a few dozen advance reader copies. At these rallies, we did agitate and advertise our work and what it stands for – social justice and racial equality.

As an Independent Publishing company, our mission is to use our collective voice to effect change. Our goal is to get people feeling, thinking and considering a different perspective. We are proud to stand with our brave author. She is using her talents to speak out about oppression, social injustice and shine a light on the racism that still plagues our communities. We welcome criticism, conversation and dialogue— as we believe these are necessary for a better tomorrow.
